Clipper Clinic: An Academic and Community Collaborative Model to Addressing Health Disparities within Underserved Communities

Clipper Clinic is a free preventative health care screening service that addresses health care access barriers by partnering with a local barbershop or beauty salon located in underserved areas. Clipper Clinic provides an alternative care delivery model that establishes fully engaged partnerships that break down silos between academic institutions, community clinics, HMOs, and community barbershops. This article was published in the Journal of Family Medicine in 2016.

Unconscious bias and its impact on public health and health-care systems

Through term definitions, discussion of the current literature, and content expert opinions, this article reveals the casual yet calculated manner in which unconscious bias saturates health care and the governing public health systems in the United States, and presents a call to action for professionals in the public health field to keep racial and health equity at the forefront of solutions to the "wicked problems" faced in this field.
